BYFY National Network
What is it?
The BYFY National Network is composed of youth organizations, programs, and agencies from around the country that share an interest in youth empowerment, education, advocacy and social change.
- Open to all youth programs/organizations/groups
- Space for youth to meet like-minded individuals
- Place to learn from our diverse backgrounds and upbringings, equalities and inequalities, similarities and differences
- Chance for youth to share ideas on community
- Reinforce the power of education
Purpose:
- Contribute to planning and organizing of Annual BYFY Conference
- Create opportunities for youth to develop and exercise leadership skills
- Allows coordinators/mentors/directors to build relationships with those of other organizations/programs
- Confront and discuss issues that youth encounter presently
Goals:
- To reach countless youth organizations/programs from around the country
- Increase number of conference participants each year
- Build a foundation for a national network that can facilitate change (local and national)
- To ensure that each youth participant learns something from the conference or from a colleague that he/she can take back to his/her community and share with others
- To empower youth to be active with city officials, aside from being active community members
- Create partnerships
- Create a national alliance to apply for national grants
- Create national council
